Our Story:
It all began in early 2004. As business professionals, Barb and Shannon were members of a number of local business associations. However, those groups didn't provide the mentoring and support that they were seeking. While good, these groups typically focused on delivering networking and business education to the masses. Individual mentoring and support did not exist. They decided to change that!

Barb and Shannon realized the need to seek guidance, support and advice from other successful women to grow their respective businesses. So in the beginning, it was just Barb and Shannon meeting to mentor each other. These meetings confirmed what they both knew. There was unique value in learning from the diverse experiences and perspectives of other professionals - the good, the bad and the ugly.

Through conversations with other women, they discovered they also had a strong need for connection, guidance, education and information. Shannon and Barb realized that women faced different challenges, and agreed that there needed to be a way to share resources, ideas and experiences in a non-threatening, non-competitive environment.

Shannon and Barb first started a small local group in Sandy Springs, GA. Membership was kept small to foster relationships and give everyone an opportunity to participate. In order to create a safe, trusted space where women felt free to discuss whatever was on their mind, membership was limited to one person per industry. Discussions were not just limited to business. It was a place where members could vent and exchange ideas on just about any topic - personal or professional.

Feedback, recommendations, education and resources provided by members was beneficial in helping others address issues and grow personally and professionally. Recognizing that women everywhere would benefit, Shannon and Barb had this great idea - wouldn't it be nice if women could share their experience, knowledge, talent and resources with other women no matter where they were? With excitement and optimism, as well as the encouragement and support of their local group, they set out on their journey to create such an environment.
